Check out the sportsman's warehouse in Albuquerque NM--250 rounds of remington 38spl is 80 USD or about rs 4000!

How much is 38spl ammunition in India, and also, can you find the +P (hi pressure) ammo? a colt cobra should be rated for +p though I would check the barrel. For defense in my revolvers, I carry hornady critical defense jacketed hollow points. In my semiautos I carry Winchester Ranger-T (the new generation of the legendary Black Talon ammo).

There is no supply of cheap .38 Special ammo. That is why, coupled with the problems getting it(a .38 Special revolver) entered on a license and later on during renewal that it is generally never sold/bought for more than 1 lakh.

You sir are a dream customer for a gun dealer. You are going to loose a substantial portion of the money that you paid for this when you eventually tire of having to source ammo for it and decide to sell it.It would have been better if you had bought a .380 Llama. You would have paid much less and would not have been pleading to people to help find you ammo. What are you being quoted 300-400-500 per round?

I am sure you consulted someone before buying it.If you did and that fellow said yes,he is an idiot.Get better advisers/advice next time

I am relaxed and let me put what I said in another way,

If you said to your 'friend' ," I am getting a .38 special revolver for 6.5 lakhs." and your friend said,"Good, buy it." then he is no friend of yours.

If I get you a .38 Special revolver for 4 lakhs, would you buy it from me? BTW it is 4" S&W NIB with box and everything. And when I say NIB I mean NIB/Unfired/Mint and not used in a competition mint  BTW,if you decide that you want to buy it for 4 lakhs,I will be making a profit of 3.2 lakhs  I am sure you can do the maths.

Amit,
Don't waste your breath with WTP... I suspect he is somebody high up which is why his sarcasm, indiscretions and insults are tolerated. Thanks to him, I got decorated with a Yellow card.... :P

Hello amit,

Despite our deferences, vis-a-vis the .32 PPk, Most 38 specials can safely chamber and fire the .357 magnum round. But here in India that's not much of a solution! Again.. I seem to have read about a certain gun nut, again in the US of A who managed to source (fabricate?) a couple of 'C' shaped halfmoon circlips that enabled him to shoot 9mm rounds from his 38 special. Again, that's not much of a solution here in India. By and by here in India, it is not uncommon to find gun nuts who own a pair of handguns one of which is a 'showcase' gun and the other of a more meaningful calibre. The colt .38 special that you own would have been a highly 'esteemed' and 'soughtafter' gun amongst the right calibre of citizens in this US of Bharat!

Jonah,

Are you sure that's what you meant? .357 magnum may chamber and fire the .38 Special but the reverse is not true or it is fraught with dangers.

Just one source that says so.There are many that confirm the same.
