Here are some pics of the laser sight I made imptomptu using material found in my household, except the laser pen, which I purchased from eBay:

Material used:
(1) Laser Pen with 2 AAA cells, very long range beam (Rs.400/- from eBay) {One could use a green laser pointer, but that is a trifle more expoensive}
(2) Outer shell of an old permanent marker pen
(3) On-Off Switch
(4) Office Clip- Medium Size
(5) Araldite and M Seal
(6) Some felt sheet

One may replace the on-off switch with a suitable length of 2 core wire, terminating at a push button, so that the laser could be turned on just by pressing. I preferred the switch 'coz I don't like to wire my gun.

The laser sight is aligned for long distance aiming ( more than 50 Ft) and best used at night only. The grip of the office clip, together with the bracket on the tail, ensures that the sighting does not change after recoil. During day time shooting the laser sight can simple be clipped off.

Sorry if I have posted too many pictures, but that was the only way to explain the project.

You can buy the laser pen from eBay, seller Stationaryworld; Cost Rs. 378/- plus Rs. 96/- for courier. Unlike the keychain laser pointers, this one is very powerful

You can work on RWS too. Factory guns are always untuned one. To get a best out of it you got to spend real time on it.

Yup Tirths, fully agree. Mine is well tuned and dead accurate (was tuned abroad). It’s about 7 years old and well maintained. But in the corporate world you hardly find time. Left it at my home town for my young cousin who is developing a love for the sport. Taking it back from him would shatter his heart. I really like the idea of improving a gun. Could be a hobby and stress buster. After all there is nothing sweeter than reaping your harvest.

Thanks a lot for the appreciation of my work. I have not mounted the scope yet. I am travelling and not in Mumbai. I think you can understand the pain of a job and that to during Deepawali in a retail organisation. I am going to fabricate the rifle for the scope mounts by myself. I have decided not to buy the rail. Once I am back to Mumbai I know where I will be with the rifle to cut grooves for the mounts.

I think accepting what we really are and what we can do, boosts our confidence in ourselves. That’s the main motivation in buying a IHP and doing it up to the levels of imported rifles at least the way it looks first and then to try how to increase its performance. Hope we had a good number of air rifle manufacturers in India who would have competed with each other to offer a good quality and finish rifle to the customers so that we shooting sport enthusiasts would have more options with minimal hassles in buying one to satisfy our urge of a great air rifle.

Encore!! Indeed well said Indian Shooter,

Air Rifle manfactuers in India are just a handfull. IHP is supposedly the best amongst these. Please keep us posted as to how to have a groove cut at the rear end.

Also have we given a thought towards incorporating a stronger spring, or atleast reinforcing the present spring by putting washers etc at the end.

Maybe Tirths can chip in on the simplest way to dissemble and reassemble the national 35; 0.22 mm

It’s going to take a month or two for me to start (maybe December when I am on vacation) but I have already started planning. I few thoughts that might be useful to you.

Apart form stock modification, while you are at it (scope mounts) you could fabricate a nice trigger guard from a block of steel and then powder coat it black (or blue it if you know were and how it is done). It will contribute a great deal to the gun’s look. The existing trigger guards look clumsy (that’s a personal opinion).

Hi Big Daddy,

I am back to Mumbai. Truly, the company fitted trigger guard will look obsolete once I do up the whole rifle. I think you could feel what I was thinking about the trigger guard of my rifle in the flight way back home. I actually bought a block of brass from a local hardware store (Dimension: L3"X B1" X H2", Weight 660 gms) around a week back and was thinking of fabricating it to give the shape of a good looking trigger guard.

Now coming back to the main rifle, in the afternoon I procured the following articles to add to the look of my IHP. Probably if my workshop guy is merciful enough he will help me fabricating the parts.

SS Pipe Dimensions (Length 13" and diameter 12 mm) for the additional (dummy) barrel below the main barrel
SS Rod Dimension (Length 4.5" and diameter 28mm) for the dummy barrel adapter and base of the front sight
SS Plate Dimension (L100 X H25 X T4 mm) for joining the main barrel and the dummy barrel at the base

When I am talking about all the above I am having this image in my mind of a two barrel (One dummy barrel) air rifle.

Hi Atanu,

The grooves on the barrel I wrote earlier in this post on the body of the rifle will be similar to the grooves (done by the manufacturer IHP) on the tip of the barrel for the front sight. If you unscrew the front sight of your IHP you will be able to visualise how I am thinking of a pair of grooves for my 11 mm scope mounts.
