Hurray I got my first Gun. --- pictures added

Post by aceakshat » Mon Jun 08, 2009 8:26 am

Hello To All,
I am Akshat from M.P, I have been a silent reader of this forum for some time and the forum has really motivated me to buy a gun when I can (living abroad :D) by exposing the sad state of firearms in India.
The guns shared by my dad and grand dad are:
1. Ruger 22lr bearcat single action revolver "Old Model" (my favorite) ... awesome gun.
2. Holand and holand .360 nitro express.
3. IOF 315
4. A Colt Official Police revolver 22LR 6 inch barrel
Now its my time to make my contribution to the family tradition. So after lots of procrastination and failed attempt to buy CZ 452(you can only get them by special order), I finally got a Ruger 10/22 today (for less then 200$ :P). I am a huge fan of 22LRs may be because that's the only gun I have used most since I was a kid (apart from air rifles).
well I will hit the range on tuesday to sight in. Next on my list is a bore 12 short gun.

cheers,
Akshat

Mmmmm....now that's an interesting calibre.
Do tell about the rifle and calibre in the rifle section. Pics would be an added bonus.
You will have a lot of fun souping-up the 10/22 with after-market parts and accessories. Since you like rimfires and assuming you aren't a member there already, do sign-up on rimfirecentral.com
Have fun and shoot safely.

Rusty, there was a H&H Rook rifle in that calibre.

It is very good, in fact, one of the best semi-auto .22lr s available . Unfortunately a semi-auto .22lr rifle is a PROHIBITED firearm in India.

Akshat: Which .360 N.E. ? .360 No.2, 400/.360, or .360 Westley Richards (not likely in a Holland & Holland) ?
The latter two being very similar rounds, and quite like the German 9.3x74R. And then there was the the little .360 straight-cased black powder Express, which also came as a Nitro for B.P. loading. But that was a deer rifle at best. Fun to shoot, though.
