Here is more info.. Another member of IFG (& KSRA), who is a longer standing innovator, tried out this method and had some feedback when we met last.
He mentioned that the rear cross wires were out of focus since they were too close to the eye, and suggested that
1. The entire scope be moved a little further away from the eye, or
2. Add some optics to bring the rear cross wires into focus.
Incidentally (and as per the 100 monkey concept), I was trying out adding some optics to the rear cross wire part, and it did seem to work fine. The problem I faced was that the optics made the X cross wires stand out too loud. I am planning to do a bit of grinding on the added lens itself, and will post more feedback soon
