Personal Introduction of Royal Maratha

Post by Royal Maratha » Fri Nov 21, 2008 1:05 pm

To introduce myself, I am HUNTER turned Collector. I have excellent collection of weapons and looking to add more weapons of exceptional quality. Can afford to pay reasonably good price for an excellent weapon. Also looking for .22 double barrel Rifle made by H&H.

My dear Royal Maratha

For your infformation H&H have never made a .22 calibre rifle - just forget about the double.

There has been only one double .22LR on record - made by a german gun maker for some royal family in Raj.

The smallest caliber double I have ever seen was a .22 Hornet - sidelock, ejectors, self opener, made to order for HH Patiala by a German maker

Dear Shamsher,

I beg to differ with you.Holland and Holland have made double rifles in .22 calibre.I dont know how many but I know of a friend who owns one.

It was made for Moin Ud Dowla Bahadur of Hyderabad.Walter Claude offered a good price for thhe weapon but the owner didnt sell it.

I will confirm the same with Holland and Holland and let you know.

Regards

Ashar

If you could manage some pictures of the rifle- it would be a treat.

And thank you for updating me on this.

Dear Shamsher,

Just received this email.

Dear Mr. Raoof,

Thank you for your email.

I can confirm that yes we have made .22 calibre double rifles. If you were
able to confirm the serial number then we would be able confirm whom it was
made for.

Best regards,

Andrew Ambrose

Sorry to hijack your thread RM but I would be willing to pay upto 20L for this gun.

H&H made double .22. I know of at least one in rajasthan. v. good condition. owner not willing to sell or post pics. i still done understand the purpose of a double .22 though.
Maratha bhai, please post ur hunting pics and share some hunting experiences with us as therent not many hunters left around.

I also wanted to know how yo own many weapons in todays draconian times and strict gun laws.

Shamsher: Churchill reportedly made a .22 RF double, one at least for himself. Haven't read if he made any for customers. Cheers.
