Hehe! Here are a few Lucas Electric jokes:TwoRivers wrote:That must one of their nicer names. I have called it worse, and have been far outdone by others.xl_target wrote:
Not for nothing was Lucas Electronics called the "Prince of Darkness".
linkThe Lucas motto: "Get home before dark."
Lucas denies having invented darkness. But they still claim "sudden, unexpected darkness"
Lucas--inventor of the first intermittent wiper.
Lucas--inventor of the self-dimming headlamp.
The three-position Lucas switch--DIM, FLICKER and OFF.
The other three switch settings--SMOKE, SMOLDER and IGNITE.
Lucas dip-switch positions: LOW and BLOW (Bruce Miller, www.hermit.cc)
The original anti-theft devices--Lucas Electric products.
"I've had a Lucas pacemaker for years and have never experienced any prob...
If Lucas made guns, wars would not start either.
Did you hear about the Lucas powered torpedo? It sank.
It's not true that Lucas, in 1947, tried to get Parliament to repeal Ohm's Law. They withdrew their efforts when they met too much resistance.
Did you hear the one about the guy that peeked into a Land Rover and asked the owner "How can you tell one switch from another at night, since they all look the same?" "He replied, it doesn't matter which one you use, nothing happens!"
Back in the '70s Lucas decided to diversify its product line and began manufacturing vacuum cleaners. It was the only product they offered which didn't suck.
Quality Assurance phoned and advised the Lucas engineering guy that they had trouble with his design shorting out. So he made the wires longer.
Why do the English drink warm beer? Lucas made the refrigerators, too.
Alexander Graham Bell invented the Telephone. Thomas Edison invented the Light Bulb. Joseph Lucas invented the Short Circuit.
Recommended procedure before taking on a repair of Lucas equipment: check the position of the stars, kill a chicken and walk three times sunwise around your car chanting: "Oh mighty Prince of Darkness protect your unworthy servant."
Lucas systems actually uses AC current; it just has a random frequency.
How to make AIDS disappear? Give it a Lucas parts number.
Recently, Lucas won out over Bosch to supply the electrical for the new Volkswagens. So, now the cars from the Black Forest will come with electrics supplied by the Lord of Darkness -- how appropriate!
Lucas is an acronym for Loose Unsoldered Connections and Splices.

I did the Jammu-srinagar-drass-kargil-Lamayuru-Leh-Pangong Lake-sarchu-Keylong-manali-amritsar circuit.. I totalled about 2100 kms in that ride. .
I had to skip khardungla as the Dr at Leh advised me one day rest to acclimatise and I was running a day late on my itinerary. But I promised myself it will be done this year
The Bull was shipped to jammu and back from amritsar on train..

Still sounds like an awesome ride.
Kudos to you, sir.
My nephew did a Bangalore to Leh ride last year and loved it.
I was very envious.

Re: BSA motorcycles
Thanks TC glad you liked the golden oldies! How on earth did I miss these photos![]()
Such old world charm Kanyan Da. The bikes, the southern sand and ride on the beach only remind me of the scenes from Ek Duje Ke Liye starring Kamal Hassan![]()
The RX 100 used to be the Maruti 800 of the two-wheeler world thenwhile the Rajdoot Yamaha was the Benz
. Seems you had your heart in two-wheels. Thanks for sharing the photos

I have always been a motorcycle man first; motorcycling has been very close to my heart and soul (somewhat like Zen and the Art of Motorcycling - LOL) TC.
The RX-100 was truly a rocket, there was nothing on the roads (Indian bikes) in those times that could beat it - except for the RD-350! It was the age of the two-stroke's - the scorched exhaust smoke and the sheer adrenaline feel of it! Thanks for bringing back nostalgia - wow, exhilarating!

Kalyan Da,
We should thank you for bringing back the nostalgia !
Yes the RX 100 was the rocket while the Rajddot was the guzzler.
I had a second hand Rajdoot and dad said I could keep it as long as I bought the fuel and spares from my pocket money

This is a newer Triumph that I checked out at my friend's place in BLR some years ago.
