Hey,
am totally new to shooting, all i ever shot was balloons at massurie or something
though i do believe to have this misconception about me having a good aim, can any one suggest me a decent and a cheap rifle to learn on, cant go too heavy on da pocket, would buy without my dad knowledge else I'll be the first target for the gun
please do let me know and if any one is willing to sell their old air rifle that they probably used to learn
Thanks a ton
Cheers!!

HI Sid, Welcome aboard.
Shooting and Guns is a responsible activity.
Indiansforguns would recommend you to please involve your family and keep a safe sport safe.
Sure, may of us have the talent to make it big, but back off due to many constraints.I hope IFG will help you overcome...I am sure you will get lots of advice on air guns here.
Best

hey thanks alot, i would definitely tell my dad once i buy it that is
but the question here is what kind of an air rifle should i go in for as a beginner should it be .177 or .22 (not that i know what that means or what is the difference between them i just read it on the forums)
and what should be their range and what make so that once i know i could opt for a new one if not expensive or go in for a second hand.
Thanks
cheers!!

Sid,
Welcome to IFG. You could post on the Guns Wanted forum for an air rifle and members might get in touch with you. On the other hand, many of our members seem to have a good experience with the Indian made National air rifles and you should see their discussions on the subject if you check out the Air Rifle forums. .177, .22 etc are bore diameters in fractions of an inch. Pick what you like in an air rifle - the .22 would have a slightly larger diameter than the .177 and carry a little more momentum as it would have a larger diameter pellet but a .177 would have a flatter trajectory. Until you come to powderburners, calibre doesn't make all that much a difference.
As far as the range is concerned, most formal competition air rifle shooting is done at 10 metres. You would not be able to do this with a National air rifle however, but, in any case, formal ISSF rules shooting is a specialised sport meant only for the utterly dedicated. We are working on our own Speed Shooting matches for Indian made air rifles, the rules for which are in the Non ISSF Shooting Sports forum and you could try those if you have a large enough backyard with a proper backstop. Or, if you would like to do it professionally, buy some air rifle target spinners from here and use them.
Cheers and welcome again!

@ Mack The Knife
with your refrence to the fishing thing its too soon to decide though my notion about fishing was totally wrong; i always thought of it to a be a sport for the 'UNCLES' where you sit at a corner and wait for a fish to bite on the bait
but lets see i would surely love to give it a try though
lol pran
but i do hope you got on to shooting as well when u joined IFG rather than just fishing
