Hello From wales

Post by Ponen Wati Longchar » Sun Feb 03, 2013 3:48 pm

Hi all,
I am originally from Dimapur, Nagaland, have been studying in Wales for the last fives years. Will finish my degree this summer after which I will head back home. I dont own any firearms myself, I got hooked into airsoft here and went down that line, I prefer Military simulation events, where one can spend a whole weekend in the woods carrying out combat operations with hundreds of other players. Once I get back home, I will apply for a gun licence/rifle club membership. Thats about it I think.
Cheers

Welcome to IFG!

While you are in Wales, do give a try to some sporting clays/skeet/trap shooting and also some rifle shooting. It is infinitely easier and cheaper to try them there than in India. You can even get your basic training there and also find out the discipline you like.Where are you located in Wales?

Best-
Vikram

I did a year in the Wales university Officer Training Corps, that's where I got to use the Sa80, it was the A2 variant, and a bit of clay shooting. Missed out a major shooting weekend due to university guest lecturer and when my mates came back it turned out that the SAS were training in the same shooting range, they got to shoot all their small arms from the minimi to the accuracy international, darned shame I missed that. I guess I prefer the actual combat skills such as patrolling, setting up raids, ambushes, lying up and observation etc, I tend to get bored with just plain shooting targets which is why I went the airsoft route, you have a pro active enemy that shoots back lol. Storming a building and engaging in cqb can be quite the rush though I prefer to sneak around and stalk my opponents and stab them with a knife(rubber of course) when they think they are safe in their base, so satisfying to see the look of surprise on their faces. Once I get back to India I will get a gun club membership, though i dont know if they do practical shooting scenarios.

Welcome to IFG.
We hope to hear more of your activities in Wales.
Please post photos of some of your meets, if possible.

Thanks for the welcome guys... yeah I know India can be a bummer for airsoft and guns in general, but the good news is at least there are some paintball venues open in Nagaland-though they are pretty small and basic. The situation in Nagaland is not as bad as it used to be so me and my mates back there are thinking of opening an airsoft venue if things improve in the future. Not the boring spray and pray events but proper mil-sim events held over a couple of days, with proper command structure, tactics and the whole shebang. well at the moment that is only a dream, but 5 or 10 years down the line it could be viable.
