Now I know why knife makers take out the tool marks on the blade before the steel is heat treated. Have spent countless hours rubbing the damn blade on Sanding Blocks ( Emery Paper in varying grits taped to ply wood pieces).Sanding blocks are used so the bevel lines are not rounded and the lines stay crisp and sharp. 1095 is a b**ch to sand, never again will I attempt this, time invested and sore muscles, not worth it

( Not sure if you gents noticed, the clip was pushed back by a few mm on the bench grinder and merged with the spine in a curve ( lot of filing work done to get it right )

Have reached 2000 grit emery paper and buffed it slightly with black compound. Few scratches still visible, so going back to 2000 grit emery paper and then buffing with black and then green compound on the stitched buffing wheel mounted on my bench grinder to complete.

Have started doing the scales with White Oak (free sample of hard wood flooring ).Selected white oak as the light colour contrasts well with the black coating I retained below the handle and on the spine. Still to figure out how the dman couter sunk holes will be done....

the mirror finish is fantastic. that picture with the reflection off the TV screen is fantastic. do you mind putting a similar finish on a couple of my knives as well? of course...they have been heat treated

Believe me my friend leave home at 8 in the morning and back only by 9.30 to 10.00 in the night 6 days a week. Work on these knives from 11 to 1.30 am-02.00 am every night. Since I enjoy this so much, so don't really mind a bit of lost sleep.

Heat Treated, no problem, you have my address, I don't promise I'll send them back though

More of WIP, but sharing anyways. Seasoned White Oak is hard to cut and file. All the more respect for Rajat and how he managed the BK2 Scales in Sheesham. Don't have access to a Bench Drill, so had to use the power drill managed to get one scale right and the drill bit went through and through in the other.
Don't want to waste all the effort in manually cutting the seasoned wood so plan to add liners, the through and through hole in the wood is where the nut will go through and the liner will have hole only for the shaft of the screw to pass through, Counter Sunk Done without a Drill Press

The correct one was done but using a punch and hammer to force the screw head in the wood Crude way to do it but worked.
Trying to source some perspex for the liner now.

Have to finish the second scale, source a suitable perspex for liner and then file the contours on the scale..

Some more pics both the scales cut and sanded to size so perfectly symmentrical, countersunks done, have to contour the palm swells, guard and are near the pommel using the grivory scales as reference.

I Hope your men are insured (Workmen's Compensation Policy ). My mum although 60 is still a fiery pathan and a lot of large knives, swords and other edged weapons lying around the house

Filing and sanding is mostly done, mocked it up on the blade. Since the bit went through and through one of the holes have to find a fix for it. Polishing's pending too..

The wheel costs some 50 bucks and the compounds 30 bucks per block.

These buffing Sisal wheels are meant to fit only in buffing machines with tapering shafts, you will have to take the guard off the grinder, remove the stone wheel and literally hammer the wheel through the threaded bench griner shaft...

Please do post pics of the knives you are getting done through local blacksmiths...

Thank You Very much Moin,

I'am working on DIY Belt grinder for knife grinding, got all the parts ready. It may take 2 more weeks.
Once done will help a lot in grinding blanks.
I will post pics once they're back from blacksmith & also some of my first knives (actually clones from china - There was not enough budget initially)
