These are a bit thick and heavy but some people like the 1/4" slabs of steel as they give a very reassuring feel. Dont know if they all use them. But these should be pretty good for all jobs other than cutting and there are many if you really come down to it.
In the current category we are discussing there are three companies: Esee (including the knives from Ontario), Becker and Fallkniven. Their products account for most of the bulk sale in this segment and they all have these .2 to .25" thick blades in similar lengths. The Esee 5, BK2 and the Fallkniven S1 (also A1).
I guess they all have to have what the other company is carrying because in the end there are many people comparing stuff before buying.
