You Devil
After a hard days work you make me want to get back working on my blade. This is way too cool, You should post the pics of stock removal, of how you got the grind on the billet. Bloddy difficult to believe you did this with an angle grinder. Hats off and three cheers.
Would be even better is you can modify the grind at the tip like that of a Katana tip. The grind at the tip section needs to angle towards the tip, like a chisel point.
P.S: Why a rat tail tang ???
Regards
Moin.

Re: "Geometry" (tanto fighter)
Your Blade, but just a suggestion, maybe too late in the process when you are about to make the handle... and guruji when you do, please take pics of how you put the pins in place.....
Also a suggestion, would be really nice if you can try a hard scabbard like a Ninja To or a Katana's instead of the regular leather sheath, would suit this kind of blade.

Best Regards
Moin.

Re: "Geometry" (tanto fighter)
moin...thank you.
it is a chisel "scandi" grind (meaning there will be a bevel on only one side) but i see what you mean. let me see.and i do plan to finish it like the traditional tanto (wooden scabbard, cord wrapped handle etc)
the blade was ground using an angle grinder and then finished with hand filing and flap wheels.
the tsuba should seem familiar to you

Re: "Geometry" (tanto fighter)
A lot of cord wrapping video's on youtube, but what will you use for the Ray Skin (SAM'E) like texture below the cord wrap ? I'll see if I can find some patterned vinyl or imitation leather for you for this. The Tsuba turned out very nice as well, we'll see how the material holds in use
just that it stains easily with oil...

Dear marthandan,
Is it O1 tool steel or leaf spring?
Also from where did you get nitric acid? I'm having a hard time finding it here.
Nice Tanto BTW, what are you planning to draw he temper to? Straw or blue?

there is an area in chennai known as "Parrys" that is full of shops catering to every industry possible. you can get anything there; plastics, glues, tools, steels, non ferrous metals, chemicals etc. i got the nitric acid from a shop selling chemicals.
