A detailed about gun laws of Pakistan.
There are two kinds of Arms Licenses issued in our country, i.e NPB and PB. NPB being non prohibitted bore and PB being prohibited bore..
Minimum age limit for any one to acquire a license to my understanding is 18 years
In NBP category on could get the following calibre weapons:
9mm, 0.45, 32, .30, 0.22, 12 gauge etc
An NPB bore license could be acquired from Ministry of Interior , Islamabad ( Our capital city). The applicant who acquires these MOI licenses, could travel with their weapons in a concealed manner all over Pakistan.
There is another issuing authority for NPB Licenses, i.e provincial licenses, which are issued by the provinical interior ministy/Home Department. However licenses issued by the provincial authorities are restriceted to travel with their weapon in that province only.
Now the PB category covers all sort of prohibted bore calibres , specially Auto rifles of following calibres, 222,223, 7.62 etc.
The PB liceses is very hard to acquire in our country and one has to go through maternity pains, to get one. This includes, detailed background checks, verification reports etc.
How to apply ?
Applications for arms licenses could be obatined from relevent web sites of the concerend ministries. One has to attach 4 passport size pictures, proof of residence and a copy of National Identity card.
In order to carry weapons, when there are high security alerts, the home department of every province issues special carry permits, issued for a period of 30,60 and 90 days.

Hey DOM,
With all due respect to our nation, I say that, This is the first time I feel to be in Pakistan atleast to fulfill my hobby. After reading your country's laws I feel that you people are living in a real democracy rather we Indians. In India, democracy is limited upto electing a govt only. Laws are always made by some stupid, narrow-minded, orthodox people who assume themselves as the Masters/Experts of laws. No consideration is given to the views of general public once any law/amendments to an existing law is passed in Parliament.
Hello....... Indian Gun Enthusiasts.......... Are we really living in democratic nation....... Think twice/thrice & then answer.

If you measure democracy by your ability to own guns,I would suggest you move to Afghanistan or Somalia. Those countries are really democratic

Re: From Karachi, Pakistan.
Well some of my Indian friends are a bit tempted by Pakistan Gun laws.
Talking about the gun laws prevailing in Pakistan. There are almost no gun rules in majority of the Pakistan except for a few cities/states. Few years back during Parvez Musharraf's regime there was a huge crackdown on the people possessing illegal arms and ammunition . Then again it was in those areas which are controlled by govt sitting in Islamabad. Whereas majority of Sindh, North Western Frontiers and Waziristan are governed by warlords.

I have been to Pakistan once few years back. At that time I could see men with ak's hanging on their shoulders every where. I happen to ask one of those men that what is the cost of the gun and he prompted Rs-10K including licence.Bhargav wrote:wow DOM, I am jealous and I totally support gun laws in Pakistan.

for ak permits one needs solid connections in government and cost atleast 100 to 150 K (ONLY PERMIT)
local made aks price starting from 40 K, so the imported ones are starting from 150 K
and i dont want to comments on our and your government policies, gun rules in our and your country, i think better we discuss about guns not on countries and policies.
