Re: Introduction
Thank you... I am still very much a beginner..presently using an ISW Senior rebored to 4.5mm spring loaded pistol..borrowed, actually, from my mentor who introduced me to pistol shooting..there is no firing range anywhere nearby..nearest is the Madras Rifle Club. Right now I have to be content with backyard plinking. I am trying to get my hands on some IHP pistols. Also trying to explore the option of importing; I have a friend who will be coming down from the US in Dec/Jan. Only don't want to get him and family into Customs trouble!! The guidelines and experiences posted here have been a real eye opener.

Hi Doc,
> Welcome to IFG!
> If you are planning to import a good PCP Air Pistol for target shooting - I suggest:
1. Get a memebership to a Shooting Club (you may have to undergo a 'Basic training' to get a certificate & membership card)
2. This allows you to import 0.177 cal air rifles / pistols intended for target shooting.
3. Being a member you get the advantage of the 'duty waiver'.
4. To choose the weapon log on to pyramidair.com & you get a wide selection - to suit your specific need / cost etc.
5. Your club will advice you on the paper work to proceed with the purchase.
> Good luck - Happy shooting!
Cheers

Re: Introduction
Just a thought -> if this *atrocity* had been the policy of the DMK govt in TN why can't it be "pointed" out to Amma - surely she should reverse and even make it more affordable in her "up-woman-ship". Alternately can't a few air-gunners get together at someone's place and start a make-shift range locally and then affiliate it with NRAI ? I mean surely unlike us Mumbaikars, rest of Indians surely have 33' length of land with say 5m (1m for each shooter) breadth to spare and share for this purpose ? Though like Brih ji, I too am a member of the same air rifle club, many times I practice with a pellet trap inside my apartment that has kindly accorded me a corridor of 30-33'.
As "they" say Necessity is the Mother of Invention and as I think Necessity if the Father of Improvisation; what say ?
