Re: Got H&R 5 Shot Revolver
Hi All,
Thanks a lot for giving your comments, Here I upload some picture of my H&R Premier .32, 5 Shot, top break revolver. According to my research it was made between 1909 to 1903. It has British Proofing a BP and BV with Crown over sign.
I have fired almost 10 .32 ACP rounds and they were absolutely fine as you must know that S&W short is harder to get. I want to dedicate these pictures to Grewal sahab and Doc sahab who have given a lot of useful information.

Re: Got H&R 5 Shot Revolver
DO NOT shoot 32 ACP rounds in your revolver.
You revolver was chambered for 32 S&W (technically there is no 32 S&W short, only 32 S&W and 32 S&W long) and is designed to operate in the 9000-9500 CUP range. 32 ACP operates in the 15000+ CUP range. You will eventually destroy your handgun if you continue to use 32 ACP cartridges.
The H&R revolvers were not the strongest of revolvers to start with. Don't tempt fate.
The bullet diameters are not the same. The 32 ACP is approx .3125 and the 32 S&W is .3150 of an inch.

Wajhi,
Thanks for the pictures but listen to xl_target's advice
You might end up injuring yourself if you keep shooting .32 acp s out of that revolver , the revolver might blow up too . Please use the ammo the firearm has originally been chambered for .
best,
Rp.

Thanks a lot for your concern XL_TARGET and DOC, I really appreciate this. I want to say that I have done a thourough research on this and using KF .32 ACP ammo which operates at 9500 to 10000 cup range as you know Kirkee Factory has less power (Almost half) than imported ammo.
for me it is an advantage, I hope that I am not being over confident.

if there is one thing about IOF ammo its inconsistency 9500 to 1000 is operating at higher end of the pressure range - this is never advised a safety concern. I agree with XL and others here stick to the ammo the gun was made for. Its a very old gun so be careful..there is no advantage in tempting accident..

.32 ACP KF is loaded pretty hot. But don't let me stop you. After all you have done a 'thorough research'.It should be fun. 2011 is still in only it's 3rd month.Plenty of slots left for the Darwin award hopefuls.Wajhi wrote:Thanks a lot for your concern XL_TARGET and DOC, I really appreciate this. I see Ngrewal has beaten me to it.You would do well to listen to all of these very sensible people.
Me,I will wait for the photos of your revolver after your XYZ relative stuck an 'imported' cartridge into the revolver and blew it up

Thanks Everyone, Now I believe that I have taken a good decision to drop IOF.Rp I know someone who has a savage 22 repeater, It also doesn't has a serial number. Everytime he goes to renew his licence he faces a lot of problem regarding verification of the weapon. There is a Alphanumeric word inscribed on his barrel which he interprets as the serial number ( eg it says " EKGBD" So E= 5, K=11, G=7, B=2,D=4 . So the serial number as per his interpretation is 511724. ) He did'nt had any trouble since he got this rifle in the mid seventies, secondly it is entered as NPB . But this time when he got the licence renewed last november he had a tough time to convince the authorities with his theory of interpretation of the "so called serial number"The Doc wrote:1. If your revolver has no serial number, how are you going to get it endorsed on your firearm license ?. Now the same person wants to sell his savage 22 , savage DBBL and a .25CZ pistol all for 300k. The Future of weapons without serial number is Bleak. Mr.Wajhi be careful and find ways to interpret the Dates inscribed under the revolver grip as the serial number of your revolver. I have already shared a proven formula

It has HARRINGTON-RICHARDSON ARMS CO MAS USA 1895 on its barrel but I couldn’t find the serial number
The Harrington & Richardson pistol that I had sometime ago had it's number on the triggerguard!

Re: Got H&R 5 Shot Revolver
Dear All,
Here are some pics of my little revolver after spending time on it, it shines like new. Nobody is believing that it is 102 years old. it didnt misfire even a single shot out of 60-65.
http://s1227.photobucket.com/albums/ee4 ... =slideshow
Now it has a better finish compare to my Father's IOF Revvie.
Regards,
Wajhi

A lanyard does not make it British. If it were an ex-British service revolver, it would be in .380/200, a.k.a. .38 S&W. And it would have the "broad arrow" stamp. That would also it make a PB weapon in India
....also if I remember clearly, proper imports for distribution and use in England required additional British proofs... er..perhaps reproofs....some one could clarify that.
I've come across many Winchester rifles this side with British proofs.

Dear CC,
You are right, it has British Proof Marks on its barrell and chamber and they are from Birmingham proof house. I was not aware of this but some research on the internet and some discusssion with H&R collector revealed it.
Thanks,
Wajhi
