for self defence pistol or or revolver ?

Maybe the following point will not be much appreciated but:

In a revolver the spent cartridges are kept in the cylinder making them easier to retrieve later on as these stay with the gun. Pistols / semi automatics eject cartridges to some distance, requiring them to be retrieved later on for several reasons but which might not be possible under certain circumstances.

dear mods please let me know is there a new rule which says that a member has to first go through ALL the posts on IFG and memorize them before making a post so as to ensure that absolutely nothing is repeated or let me know if I have made a comment on the wrong topic.
