New Air Rifle

hi guys, I'm new to this forum as a poster, however i was following up wid the forums for a month atleast
and like it very much

i have 2 questions

after researching and reading at IFG and other forum/sites i bought an air rifle (national 35 .22), it has unbelievable power i didnt expect it to make a hole in my wall (let me tell u , i bought this for fun shooting ony, i'm no member of rifle association etc.)
bought it only 4 days ago, and while i was shooting today its buttstock just broke into two pieces and left me heart broken

question no. 1 is what should i do, because the dealer said clearly enough tht this comes with no warranty/guaranty (bought it from delhi, garg armoury private limited for 4200 rs). Should i go to him anyway ? and ask for refund or repair {can it be repaired anyway?}


in the case if it is not possible to repair it or replace it
2nd question : which model should i buy, should i buy nationals 35 again or aimco m300 (which one is better under lever or breakdown barrel ?)

also,
can i buy it online, do i have to show thm any documents, because i have already stated tht i m no member of rifle association etc.

please help me as i feel


PS : and plz tell me whr can i find a right scope/laser for my air rifle

I think you should take it back to Garg Armoury. They are known to be among the good dealers. I think they should take care of your problem provided gun was not mis-handled.

You don’t need any rifle membership to buy guns in INDIA online or otherwise.

PS: How butt stock got broken. Can you please post some pics of the Damage?

Unless you provide some photo of your broken stock , its hard to comment on it whether its repairable or not. In general case Air Rifle dont produce much recoil like Shotgun or Rifle, so apparently there is a fair chance repairing your stock, but can be commented only after seeing the condition.

I have no first hand experience on the model you mentioned , so cant comment on which one better, but National is always better over Aimco per my understanding. May be others can guide you more on this.

Check for Buy/Sale Section or other forums, or as someone suggested in ebay india for scope. Just make sure the scope is able to handle forward recoil and built for air rifle. Normal Firearms Scope wont last if your rifle produce enough forward recoil ( Which I doubt your National 35 does )

in India . per my understanding there is no document needed buying Air Rifle online. In Aborad / US a Age proof is required . Member of Rifle club is a criteria only if you are importing rifle from other country through postage/courier route.

here are the pics, let me clear you one thing, the gun was not mishandled (i was keeping it as i'd keep my girlfriend the only difference was, we were not having s*x )
u can see in pic how cleanly it has broken (i dont knw if u can see in pic or not but it has no scratches at all, its only 3 days old )

now a quick question, should i buy one more national 35 after this experience, or go for something else, plz suggest something as i have no clue what m gonna do

You can go for a AIMCo M300.There is a person who is willing to sell his gun for 4300.The Gun is new and in excellent condition.He is from Delhi too.I contacted him to buy but I am travelling to Kolkata at the end of this month so I am gonna see and choose a brand new for me.

I can sympathize with you for this unforeseen damage but dont get disheartened this i sa good weapon maybe the best indian make so just go back to the guy and get a new stock

Really I am very interested to know how that happened. I don't think you can do that by just shooting the gun. In any case why you want a new gun? I think your action is still 100% so try to source a new stock and you will be good to go.

lol believe me, whn i fired a shot i felt something cracking near my shoulder, soon i found wht was it, stock was hanging like nearly head less nick's head

Hey Buddy,

I've had the exact same thing happen to me with a .177 national many years back. However it happened purely because I was messing around with it. I was very young then and was cocking the rifle and pulling the trigger to see how fast the barrel would spring back up !!!! I know I know...stupid but was fun ! Then after taking the stress about 5 times the butt just plain broke !

Wolf call up IHP, they are a great company and tell them that you need a replacement stock. They will send you one by VPP. It won"t cost much to replace it. I used to have their number and all but have lost it.
A little googling should get you the desired results.

hi guys thx for ur sympathetic words, i visited garg armoury today, and told thm what happened, thy didn't believe me either, but changed the stock nonetheless
it cost me around Rs. 600

Now i feel i'm catching some phobia aout its being dismantled !
is it possible anyhow tht the rifle will be less accurate/powerfull by any chance ? (m not a very gud shooter so i cant tell u the difference, my shots misses anyway )

I have heard that the wood they use is of birch. the wood in national airrifles is just okay. not very strong. a new butt stock will cost about rs. 700/- from their factory in ahmedabad. i picked up one for myself recently(trhough the old one was as good as new). just check carefully for dark marks which are out of consonance with the rest of the colour of the butt, as they tend to fill the holes and cracks in the wood with putty. i am sure that the piece that you have has the same problem. as far as the functioning of the ihp airrifles is concerned, it a smooth weapon. i own the same model as yours for over 15 years and it still packs a punch. what i did to prevent splintering of the wood was to put a few drops of oil on the inner side of the furniture . the oil seeps into the wood and is resistant to knocks.As far as your fear of the rifle having become less accurate is concerned, the firing mechanism and the buttstock,that is the furniture are separate hence rest assured. dont wast money on the scope as i doubt if they will be able to boresight it for u. the axis of the vision through the scope and the axis of ur rifle's shot should be made to converge. anyway, final decision is urs sir.

Since you already purchased a stock , repairing your stock is out of question now. However it can be repaired by inserting a bolt through pistol grip and joining both part using bolt and adhesive keeping them under pressure in vice over night. But that will put extra weight on your rifle and may not look good. But since its an Air Rifle it would solve your purpose.

Accuracy due to stock size and mesurement matters in case of precession shooting like 10M ISSF . For general plinking or target practice it wont effect that much . Just make sure you are comfortable with the new stock and the action sits on it perfectly and tightly.
