Hello to everybody,
To HVJ1 and other experienced shooters who have been wasting their time with me...
It was my first official competition at DR karni singh range today..And here is the report card::
Total score: 353 ( 84, 89 , 92 , 88) .
I hope its a decent score for someone who started shooting 2 months ago only.. But overall its was a very big experience with new Q&A :
---------------------
Initially I wasn't aware that competition are going on in delhi and I knew if i don't score 345+ , I wont get a chance to play for one whole year. I panicked and sent a mail to NRAI which the secretary, Rajiv bhatia read and called. Asked me to go to range Asap. Went there on 26 and used name of rajiv bhatia as if he is my family friend. The organizers asked me no Qs on hearing his name and immediately registered at single entry. Came back on 26, play my first 40 shot match since I started. For past 2 months I had been just analyzing it. As expected the score was low and not upto 345. But I knew that my performance in pressure situation increases and had a feeling that i would nail.
Went yesterday to delhi, and today I had to get my gun checked before starting. Checker said me your jeans and they are not allowed

. I was like opps!! Next objection: your trigger is light slighting , tighten it

. I was like oopss again as i did not take my toolbox with me and wasn't even aware about how to tighten trigger but the checked ticked in the sheet though. Next Objection: put safety plug inside while not shooting and I wasn't aware what plug is !!
Other experienced shooters just asked me forget about trigger now and shoot. Luckily I had a capry in my car.
In range, the distance seemed 8 meters and not 10 which I am used while practicing at my terrace. Dont know why?!
As competetion started, Initially my targets where 7 , 8 ,8, 9 etc and first 10 series where of about 84 and I knew i was screwed. But I CHANGE SOME THING AT THIS POINT. Initially I was talking to myself but after 10 shots I stopped and shut down my brain. After this my brain was like that of a squirrel walking on a pole wire

Not thinking any thing at all. And let the subconscious mind do the work. After this it 9s, 10s and 8s.....My best series was third where I had it only 9s and 10s
In this last series my score was 336 and I though only one shot was left. It was the first time I felt pressure but I made sure I DONT THINK ANYTHING. I had to get a 10. I raised my gun and it was shaking as if I am lifting it for first time. So, shaky. I thought

. I tried again but it was a disaster again. Luckily i saw the monitor and saw that I had 2 shots left and not one....

. After that I hit 8 and 9 ....
It was a good and satisfying experience and releived that I have qualified. ...
But there are still some Q's and I am looking for answers::
* I dont have a habit of following the gun shot after trigger press which I know is very bad. Infact, I dont even know sometimes when and why I pressed the trigger. Luckily, I was hitting 9s and 10s even with this technical fault. How it is supposed to be ?? Should i be able to tell after the shot where i hit or let subconscious mind do its work of pressing the trigger when Sight is aligned automatically??
* I was not feeling the butter flies in my stomach kind of pressure. Though I was subconsciously aware what every shot in the match meant. And sometimes, my SA was so shaky I could not even believe it. Was this the subconscious mind doing it work of pressure or due to some other reason like grip???
* How much does it cost to set up sius ascor range at home. It seems easy just to look at screen and know the score after every shot. NOW, I walk 10 metere after every shot; breaking my concentration and rhythm.
* After this, what other competition I can get into and what scores are required there to qualify and what are their approximate dates. I was lucky this time....
Thanks to hvj1. Its because of him that I qualfied today. I am only going to get more intense, hungry, and technical from now on ...
