Precihole Offerings

Post by tarat » Fri Oct 19, 2012 10:04 pm

Hello all,

I joined IFG quite sometime ago, but have not been active for a long time ; been busy dealing with other aspects of life (read as, work!) ....
Anyway, sat down to update myself a couple of days ago, and came across Precihole. My question: Is Pegasus indeed a 12FPE rifle? A certain forum member at another forum has reported the following:
JSB EXACT .177 8.44 gr Avg 705 fps ---- 9.5 ft-lb
JSB .22 15.3 gr Avg 590 fps ----11.5 ft-lb
The 0.22 version (Orion) seems to be right on the money, but the Pegasus actuals vs advertised does not quite tally (regardless of whether you look at FPE or FPS).
Comments/clarification invited from all, especially the guys who have used it. Just one point to keep in mind: Pl. do not start discussing accuracy; let that be the subject of another thread if you wish to highlight it.

BTW, my name is Raj and am based at Bangalore. A re-intro was necessary given the long absence.

Regards
Raj.

Yes I only posted this reading. The problem was with the spring used in the Pegasus which was sorted out & my Pegasus is giving me around 750-775 FPS with 8.2 grains Master shot pellets it comes around 11 ft-lbs if you use JSB EXACT you will definitely get more power
I mounted 3-9 X 40 scope on my Pegasus zeroed it at 33 yards but it hit flat from 10 yards to 33 yards unfortunately I don’t have more space to check how much pellets is dropping beyond 33 yards

Just for the reference posting pic not very clear taken from my mobile
Master shot pellets hitting PEST SEAL Tin at 22 yards
You can see a mark on the back side also

At 33 yards

This is my shooting result from my Pegasus, standing position, approximately 10 meters.

Experts please comment.

The picture is too small to comment. How many shots group is this? I think I can see 3 fliers. If its a 10 shot group, and 7 have hit around the center of the target, guess thats goo enough.

Hello Pratik,

Thank you for the response. Its somewhat of a relief to hear that your spring was off, and has since been corrected. I have decided to wait a wee bit longer just to see some more experiences posted around the Precihole products, before I take a plunge (not that its available in B'lore right now, anyway!) ... You got a unit with a bad spring. Another member received one that apparently has some issues with the chisel detent.

Reliability needs to be established. That cannot happen overnight though.

As an after-thought: I am still a trifle unsure of your velocities; you are getting 750-775 FPS using 8.2 grainers. First off, thats quite a spread ... 25 FPS. Second, the heavier JSBs will likely lower your speed and not increase it, unless there's other factors at play such as form/fit that I'm missing out.

Lets keep our fingers crossed and see how this saga pans out.

Regards
Raj.

Hello Sir, in that case, would like to see some more shots. Say about 5 numbers of 10 shot groups. You may want to use a rest to shoot the gun so that you are sure that if there is a flier whose fault is it.

Hi Tarat
Actually the spring used in the testing gun was a bit low velocity spring
The same testing gun was given around 680 FPS for Master shot pellets 25 FPS less than JSB pellets because JSB pellets fit nicely in the barrel
There was no problem in the spring used in my Pegasus it is giving me around 11-11.5 Lb-fts & hole in hole group at 10 meters with JSB pellets .Cocking Effort of Pegasus is less than my IHP 35

As I don’t have the exact reading but it was not more than 775 PFS so I casually said around 750-775 FPS but yes you will get at list 10-15 FPS spread with master shot pellets
It primarily depends on which pellets you used & every gun will act differently for the same pellets

Received my Pegasus today. Will break in after the Puja tomorrow. Will run in each a box of MS/ gsmith pellets just to see which one suits better. From Pratik's feedback, I suspect, heavier pellets ought to perform better in terms of accuracy in the Pegasus which I prefer to speed. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Just to show the penetration power of Pegasus at 100 Yards with .177 Master Shot yellow box pellets
Size of video is 14 MB
First shot made the hole in Beer Bottle with big crack but due to sticker not break so I aim little bit higher for second shot
Second target was soft drink metal cap you can see how much the impact of pellets on it
