True are your words... No matter how ugly is the child but the mother thinks he/she is the most beautiful one in the world.
Regarding the stock I have already procured a block of SISU WOOD (I do not know the botanical name. Thats the name of the wood in my state). Its little darker than the teak naturaly. So it will need a coat of varnish after shaping and polishing. I will try to give the following look to my new stock. Its much stronger than teak and vertualy termite free as it tastes bitter to termites traditionaly..
Tirth,
Answers for your question as following
1.If you will see the 2nd image in my previous post carefuly, will see a slot cut in the dummy barrel for the cocking leaver long and wide enough for the cocking process.
2. The weight of the new barrel assembly is 356 gms and the scope to be mounted with the rings is 355 gms. So, I hope it will balance properly or I will fill steel balls in the stock by drilling holes as required. I think you will agree to me as I think thats the process of increasing the weight of the existing stock with out changing it.

Air Rifle manfactuers in India are just a handfull. IHP is supposedly the best amongst these. Please keep us posted as to how to have a groove cut at the rear end.
Also have we given a thought towards incorporating a stronger spring, or atleast reinforcing the present spring by putting washers etc at the end.
Maybe Tirths can chip in on the simplest way to dissemble and reassemble the national 35; 0.22 mm

Hi Indianshooter,
How is your customization coming of?? Here's a way you can easily make a silencer:

I think it looks very professional too after the paint job
Thanks for the admiration.... I am little busy otherwise hence, the customisation work is paused for the timebeing but I am halfway done with carving out the new stock. Will take around a couple of weeks to get rid of the professional burden at present on my head.
Why I do not try silencers
1. Silencers are banned in India as per my limited knowledge of law.
2. Silencers will be ineffective in spring pistone air rifles as mainly silencers diffuse the exiting gas so by supressing the noise of shooting, of a Co2 Air Rifles if I am not wrong.
1. The legal limitation on moderators (more commonly known as silencers), applies to firearms BUT since air-guns which pass the deal wood test are exempt from ALL provisions of the Arms Act, the restriction on moderators would not apply to these airguns.
2. Moderators do help suppress the sound in spring piston airguns as well, but since the sound made by such airguns is moderate to low to begin with the effectiveness is not as evident. PCP's on the other hand are much louder, hence the amount of difference a moderator can make is quite a bit more.
3. When shooting a spring piston airgun, the shooter himself may not be able to make out the difference in actual sound produced as a large part of the sound gets transmitted through his/ her cheekbone, but persons standing next to him/ her will certainly be able to make out the difference.
4. There is actually a provision to get a license for a moderator from the local licensing authority. See Schedule I and Schedule II of the Arms Rules. However I very much doubt if any of our local licensing authorities would have any clue as how to tackle such an application, hence will just deny the application without further ado.

> Am planning to give the stock a proper finish including a melamine coat - matte finish, would also want some engraving done on the pistol grip and the fore-end. For this do I have to remove the action & scope? Can laser engraving be done on the stock?

as far as my knowledge does, the laser engraving that you are talking about is ment for metals, not wood. Laser would burn the wood.
Best bet would be either look for good carpenter, who can work with you or else hand it over to Gunsmith with you requirement they should take care of all that.
You dont need to remove scope for getting stock done, jst remove ur current stock and give that, they need to match the dimension of the original stock.
Thanks for prompt the advice. Tirths I believe the fps of IHP 35 22 cal is about 600, can this be increased to 800 by changing the spring? If so which make / brand?
Sa_ali, I checked with a laser engraver and have seen samples of his work on wooden plaques, very neat (floral designs and checkering etc). The wood doesn't burn, infact the laser cuts (laser is used for eye surgery). Any way will check with the engraver & revert. I believe laser engraving is done in most of the US made rifle stocks.
If it can be then it will be very nice as lasser engraving is fast and much cleaner.
Eye laser is very old thing, i am not that novice .
In my engg days we did small workshop on this and that time the machine which was being used on metal, it was absolute no for wood. Technology advances , this was way 10yrs back.
