Please tell this to the JCP licensing and see your license vanish in thin air. Only rule in India is that which is decided by the Authority in seat. They know very well how long a court case will take and besides they also have the power to book you on charges that they deem fit.mohshar wrote: ↑Thu May 29, 2025 10:23 pmThe Arms Rules, 2016 has no provisions whatsoever to deposit used ammunition cases. The state government has no powers to notify any rules in the Arms Act or Rules as it comes under Union/Central list and protected specifically under Article 246 of the constitution of India. No other state has this used ammunition case requirement, except the state of UP and it violates the right to equality - Article 14-18 of the Constitution of India.

Re: Another Case of Police Excess - 4 Arms License Holders Booked for Being Unable to Produce Empty Shells!
Here is a fresh case of my friend in ludhiana punjab…, where the license holder during his renewal process was asked to show his ammo mentioned on his licensed along with the weapon……. When he took the live cartridges along with the used empties which he bought a few yaars ago, the official filled an investigation report on him saying he’s having a self defense category licence he aint allowed to use any ammo alloted to him on his license, they also stopped his renewal process untill report/investigation has been completed
Whereas there’s no provision in arms acts but the authorities i.e commissionarate weren’t satisfied with the empties also, saying you cant use ammo unless you are sports shooter & are making a big fuss for him
Is it happening anywhere else also??

I heard that there are many Renowned shooters from UP, and other states, who import large quantities of ammo and sell it on the black market.
We are talking about thousands of rounds of ammo here.
I'm not surprised with this news and crackdown should happen on such crooks.

Logically, people would be able to buy what they want. This would eliminate a great deal of black market trading and price scalping, give gun owners a chance to practice their skills resulting in gun ownership becoming safer, and lighten the burden on overworked police who would be freed from having to count individual used cartridge cases. This last point must amount to an entire mountain of paper itself. Perhaps some beleaguered policeman would then find time to catch criminals.

Yes he submitted a self declaration affidavit stating that he used the ammo in xyz shooting range alongwith the receipt from the shooting range…… only afterthat they proceded his licence renewal…… the babu even told him not to use even a single round of ammo on his license anywhere except a self defence……..
I had asked him to join a shooting club……. But there isnt any info regarding membership in punjab on internet either…. So dont know the process or anything regarding that

This is madness to say the least. Haven't heard anything like this. Yes they ask to show the empties but that's it.Ayush_3005 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 05, 2025 10:50 amYes he submitted a self declaration affidavit stating that he used the ammo in xyz shooting range alongwith the receipt from the shooting range…… only afterthat they proceded his licence renewal…… the babu even told him not to use even a single round of ammo on his license anywhere except a self defence……..

Well, atleast he got a way around. Joining a shooting club is indeed the best bet.
