A big hello to everyone

Hi, this is a quick intro for myself, I live in the UK, I have a firearms licence and I shoot a Winchester 357/38 underlever, a Ruger 10/22 .22 semi auto, a Euroarms Roger and Spencer .44 blackpowder revolver, a Parker Hale 3 band Enfield .577, an Ishapore converted .410 S.M.L.E, an Air Arms S200 air rifle, and of course a 54 bore Tranter, and my wife Kuljit Kaur shoots a Marlin 7000T .22 semi auto rifle. I am English but my mother was born in Kolkata and my grandfather worked on the Railways and lived in Bangalore. I was brought up to love all things Indian and think of it as my second home. My wifes family come from near Jalandhar and we have relatives in Delhi.
I also collect knives and swords and in particulary Fairbairn-Sykes Fighting knives, and I have several Talwars and Kirpans and am always on the lookout for Indian made knives [proper ones]. I would also be interested in collecting badges from Indian shooting and rifle clubs.
A big hello to all my new friends !!!!!!!!

Tranter, welcome to IFG. Hopefully, you can post some pictures of your treasures when you get a chance. I'm especially keen on the SMLE muskets (converted to .410 bore) as I hope to get one myself someday. Many in the USA are converted to use either 3" or 2 1/2" .410 shotgun shells, which are readily available, but I'd prefer one in the .303 based case if I can find a nice one some day.

Glad you've joined us and enjoy the boards.

Hi Timmy, yes it is the SMLE musket as used by the Indian Police, with the wooden blanking instead of a magazine making it a single shot, but it has been converted for the .410 shotgun shells, which are basically a straight sided .303 [they share the same head size], and you could always use fireformed .303 cases as .410 shells if you wanted to, though I hope you find just what you are looking for.
And thanks for your message, I do enjoy the boards already.
Tranter.

Hello Tranter,

A hearty welcome to IFG and thanks for a nice introduction. We do have a little but interesting group of members from UK. They do occasionally chime in.

I handled the Tranter revolvers a couple of time. I was very impressed with their balance and pointability, must be even more fun to shoot.

Best-
Vikram

Hi, my great great grandfather went to India in 1828 with the East India Co and was a gunner with the Madras Horse Artillery, then my great grandfather worked on the railways as did my grandfather, and they unhappily left in 1947, but India was and is concidered our home. My wife is a Sikh, and I now follow the teachings of The Gurus to the best of my abilities and would describe myself as a Sikh [ sahaj-dhari ].
My thanks to all who have welcomed me my friends.
