I stumbled across your forum when seeking information about hunting in India. I live on Parris Island of all places. The Marine recruit training depot as seen in Full Metal Jacket - though that was not filmed here. Thus if I leave my window open I wake up to the sound of gunfire from the nearby rifle range.

AFAIK cockroaches, rats, crows are legal to hunt here. Maybe feral pigeon, not sure about it though, hope someone will clear up my confusion.
Ah, Full Metal Jacket remind me of those dialogs by R. Lee Ermey. Oh, those good ol' days
I almost forgot, welcome to IFG

Roaches here on PI are large enough that we kill them with golf clubs. Question... if hunting is banned how are animal populations managed? Also... What are the IOF 315 bore and 30-06 marketing niches if they can not be used for hunting? Are they sold as target or defensive firearms?

Hi Gatorfarmer,
welcome to IFG,hunting as mentioned by Mr Haji is completely banned across the country ,only exeption would be wild boar incase if it is destroying crops and one needs the required permission to shoot it from the forest dept that too within one's farm.Yes these rifles are sold for target shooting and self defence on sport or self protection license.

Welcome to IFG,Gatofarmer.
Wildboar and Nilgai/Blue Bull cull permits are issued nuder pest control/crop depredation permits. But, those animals have to be buried/destroyed and not consumed.
We do hope things may change.
Best-
Vikram

Welcome to the forums Gatorfarmer!
I am curious about your name, do you actually raise alligators or is it there are simply many of them around so that it sometimes seem like that is your career?
Regards,
Mark
