Hello from Dubai!

Post by varshik » Mon Jun 28, 2010 6:32 am

Hey guys,
My name is Varshik, I'm 20 yrs old and based in Dubai.
been around on the forum for quite sometime now but never posted anything.
looking at the effort everyone else is putting in to make this a better place for all the upcoming shooters, I wanted to chip in my effort in any way I can.
I dont really have much of theoritical knowledge about guns but can assure you I can handle what I shoot.been shooting since I was 9 and my first air pistol was an Indian one (dont know/remember the brand) it was a .22 cal, then had a small break barrel rifle which I still have in India (again, dont know the brand but it was a local make) in .177 cal.
I'm more of a trap and skeet person over target shooting and been taking part in local competetions for the past 5 years.no impressive track record yet but hopefully there would be one soon :)

I like to collect unique things and living in this part of the world, where anything resembling a firearm is banned or highly regulated specially for expats, I'm happy with my small collection of air guns. besides air guns, I like to collect knives, swords and a few other "weapons" as they label it here.
as of now,i have:
1.) a chinese/unbranded break barrel springer in .177 cal which i bought around 6 years back and its still going strong.
2.)Umarex Airmagnum 850 CO2 in .177
3.)Daisy powerline 15xt .177 CO2 bb gun
4.)Daisy powerline 008 .177 CO2 bb/pellet gun
5.)GLock 18c CO2 bb gun

various other knives and swords, nothing branded but aesthetically appealing.

hope I can be of some use in making this forum an even better place.

Regards,
Varshik

Welcome to IFG, Varshik.

Jeff Cooper advocated four basic rules of gun safety:
1) All guns are always loaded. Even if they are not, treat them as if they are.
2) Never let the muzzle cover anything you are not willing to destroy.
3) Keep your finger off the trigger till your sights are on the target.
4) Identify your target, and what is behind it.

Hi Varshik,

Welcome to IFG. Great to meet a fellow IFG'ian resident in the UAE. Neat collection you have there.
