Welcome Varun. Ideally join a safety course before starting to shoot, if you haven't done so yet. Next try out a few ARs and APs at the club belonging to teh club or fellow shooters (if they readily agree :-) ). Then persist and hunt for what appeals to you best - AP or AR. Several threads here on IFG will give you a wealth of info on various guns. Good Luck - safe shooting. :cheers:

Thank you all for your wishes. I have today completed my Civilian Rifle Training Program conducted by Bangalore police CAR(Central Armed Reserve -South). Would be putting up a thread with my experience in the Rifles board.
