Hi all :)

Post by SriramK » Sun Oct 28, 2012 6:14 pm

I've been interested in target shooting ever since my cousin bought me an Airsoft (Silver Desert Eagle replica in cheap plastic, for about Rs. 75 - with a trigger safety and everything!) when I was about 13.
Having gone through about 30 or so (not exaggerating) different airsoft pistols as a kid, I kept fixing them by replacing parts from other broken ones, or from bent metal wires and Fevikwik (Remarkable how fragile these things are when you consider how hard it was to cock them).
I finally decided that enough was enough, airsoft can only be used at about 10 feet for any kind of accuracy or reliability, and if I wanted to really enjoy target practice, I need to get an air rifle. After spending months on Pyramydair, toying with the idea of buying an air rifle, I finally gave up after coming to this site as I read the truth about importing one - not a simple process without a membership at a club. I was willing to pay the $200 for rifles I saw there, but I had no way to get them. Frustrating.
After reading many posts here on IHP, I finally decided to purchase the IHP National Model 35 in .177 caliber. I figured that I'd become a member here and contribute on my experiences on buying and owning an IHP in Bangalore :)
Since Aimco or Bangalore Armory don't have any ready stock for the .177, I've not been able to buy it yet. Bangalore Armory also quoted Rs. 6500 for the .22, but I don't think that's fair as Aimco could send me the same, and charge lesser even after including shipping!
Here's hoping that I can get the IHP National Model 35 in .177 caliber soon, and at a good price :)

Hi SriramK
Welcome to IFG. As you are not buying your Air rifle now, so you can have a give a thought of getting pegasus as well after getting more satisfying comments from the board members. Why not to choose the better option afterall.

Welcome Sriram,

You are at the right 'mature' age to take up shooting. Please read, read, and read further. This forum is a virtual repository of information related to shooting and firearms in India. I hope you shall take after the positive aspect of each one of us.
Justice alone is the mainstay of government and the source of prosperity to the governed, injustice is the most pernicious of things; it saps the foundations of the government and brings ruin upon the realm - Sher Shah Sur, Sultan-ul-Adil.

Thank you everyone for the warm welcome :D
@Moulindu - definitely. When I wrote this, I hadn't really considered the Precihole products, assuming that it was just another plastic-y overpriced imported rifle when I saw it on Aimco. After looking at a few posts here on it, I was pleasantly surprised that it was an India brand. Further inspection let me know that not only was it an Indian brand, but the build was not the cheap build I'd assumed it was, but actually rather good. It's too bad that Pegasus isn't available yet, but I'll be sure to snap one up asap :D After all - you buy your first rifle only once. :)
