Hi friends,

I am sid from kolkata.I am 25 yrs old. I want to make a career in shooting.I couldnt pursue it earlier as my dad couldnt afford this sport. Now I want to take it seriously. I am a complete noob who only has been good with air gun shooting at fairs. I atleast know that I have the potential and the confidence to do it. I need ypour help and suggestion on what I should do to achieve what i want. Hope to meet some experienced shooters from the country. also guys please help me with some club in kolkata where I can join..as In South kolkata where i stay there doesnt seem to be any club...hope to learn a lot from you all.

I am also form south kolkata..
There are two rifle club in south kolkata, named tollygunje club it may be near lake (rabindra sarovar) , other is south kolkata rifle club in PTS & another one is north kolkata rifle club , it is in belgachia.

I know PTS , thats very near to my home...tollygunge club if its near lake, then thats inst too far either, bu am not sure how good that is. I will definitely try for Tollygunge club and NCRC because I hear north calcutta rifle club is beter than the one in PTS and am not aware of tollygunge..so i would definitely check that out.

Welcome to IFG. I cannot help you with the shooting club.Our members from your region should be of help. If you wish to pursue shooting sports, you may like to consider which discipline appeals to you the most as there are quite a few like air rifle/pistol, shotguns-trap,double trap,skeet, rifle-big bore, small bore etc.

Yes , NCRC is better . You can go there any sunday & join there . It is in belgachia..

I am going to join one of the clubs in kolkata next week. On choosing the sport I think air rrifle 10 mtrs and 50M Rifle Prone appeals to me the most..I am not sure how good the facilities are available within my reach...I am yet not very strong financially thus I have to choose my options after keeping this in my mind.

thanks Rraju...can you you please tell me what are the requirements for joining..I dont wnt to waste any time..I mean..I want to go with al the documnets required and join instantly.and if possible also the fees. That will be very helpful.

I am so sorry , i can't help you in this case. I am not a member of any rifle club.
.you can contract other member from kolkata like Tc , swajan.

Hi Guys,

just joined the 'North Calcuta Rifle Club' in Kolkata. Thanks for the support an dthe information provided by you guys, especialy saptarshi (man it was great to meet u there, thanks). The range is very active with lot of shooters, both young and old. And the best part was fine coaching by experienced coaches outthere. I think after a long time I am at the right place to start off my shooting career. hope to learn more and ...just cant wait to test my skills in a proper shooting range for the first time.

BTW friends, there is also a doubt in my mind..i want to get into both 10 mtr air rifle and 50 mtr prone...i have been told to start with 50 mtr prone..an dthen move to 10 mtr rifle..what you guys think bout it ?
