I hadn't been able to buy ammo for some years, but I recently picked up some New KF .22 LR rounds (long story about licence transfer, permission to buy etc.) . How has their performance been compared to the older lot that won't even let you zero a scope consistently? I am like a kid with these shiny new golden bullets...do share your experiences, as it will be a while before I can get a range membership going again.

This is what ChatGpt had to say: Here’s how **.22 LR ammo from India’s Kirkee Factory** stacks up against top **international brands**—especially in terms of velocity, accuracy, and intended use:
---
### Kirkee Factory .22 LR (India)
* **Muzzle Velocity**: \~305 m/s (≈1,000 ft/s), measured at 9 m from muzzle
* **Accuracy**: 95% of rounds fall within a ¾‑inch (≈19 mm) circle at 23 m (\~25 yards)
This round offers **solid, consistent performance** suitable for plinking, basic training, or recreational shooting—but it falls short of match-grade standards by most international standards.
---
Key Takeaways
* **Velocity**: Kirkee rounds are generally *slower* than most international standard or match-grade options.
* **Accuracy**: Excellent for general use (¾‑inch at 25 yards), but elite competition ammo (like Eley Tenex, Lapua, Norma) offers **substantially tighter precision** at 50 m and beyond.
### Final Thoughts
If you’re shooting competitively or need maximum accuracy and consistency, brands like **Eley (Match, Tenex), Lapua, SK, or Norma** are clear leaders. However, for everyday target shooting, practice, or budget-conscious use, **CCI Standard, Aguila**, or even **Kirkee India rounds** are reliable and cost-effective.

There's a video demonstrating velocity, though the lot tested is from 2022. It's hard to say how much performance has improved since then: -

Yes look-wise it has changed. Have to see how it performs at the range. Not holding my breath anymore, though.
