By chance I saw this article on line
India's last DAK/mail/ Postal dept. Runner who used to run in nights specially the hilly areas. They were the main connection from the towns to the Interior Villeges
I can still remember back in 1980s there were few dak runners in the jharkhand( then Bihar) and orissa boarder areas covered by a hilly terrain more than 200 to 250 km stretch. That time there was a rest area for them attached to the post offices of that area with water in some Mitti handi or surahi
This person Vondu Gope is based in Bagmundi near Ayodhya pahar
It's in purulia/Barabhum area of WB
