There wasn't a single Indian representative for 300m rifle events. What's going on?

Hi,
AFAIK there are no private/state 300M ranges where one can practice. The AIGVM & NSCC if and when they are held, are usually done at Government Police/CRPF/Military etc ranges. Even so most practice for 300M is done at 50M using .22 Rifle as the sight picture and other stuff is the same.
Unfortunately, the land area, permissions required, legal/govt compliance and cost involved in running a 300M range is beyond the scope of most entities, even rifle associations. So state or central govt ranges need to come up for the encouragement of the sport. This event not being an Olympic event doesn't get preference.
Regards,
Anand

I agree with Anand. The biggest cost in building any range in India today, is cost of land.
For a 300m set up, the area required and consequent land cost is beyond any reasonable commercial return on investment. Hence, either a wealthy person or the government can put one up, as a "good deed" for common benefit, no way it can ever be commercially viable or hope to pay for itself even over many years.
