Greetings Fellow Members,
In another jolt to the law abiding gun owners of India, the Government of India decided to change the GST slab on Handguns from 28% to 40%.
I wonder who advice them, Most of the sales of Handguns in India is for law enforcement and State police, the move to 40% category will further dampen the spirits.
Thoughts and rants welcome!
Regards,
mohshar

It was expected when handguns worth 30-40k in international market are sold at 3-7 lacs, and people are buying it left right and center; the govt also wants its pound of flesh....

no government in our country neither present one nor previous ones wants to see firearms in the hands of citizens. i think import of weapons was put in the restricted list when the forex reserve was very low but it has changed long time back but since then, no government has removed it.

Looking at the SIN profits the the handgun market, Government has has put the handguns in SIN category only. I have no idea of how local companies like Werywin/SIIL/Nanda are arriving at the pricing structure but is very clear that the prices of these so called imported handguns and 8/10 times the international market and Government of the day also wants a pie in that.
A baikal MP155 is available for less that 2 Lakh Pakistani Rupee equivalent to 65K in Indian Rupee is launched at whopping 6.75 Lakhs
A SW 686+ sold at MSRP of 1200 dollars in US equivalent to roughly 1 Lakh rupees has been sold in Indian market for Rs. 15 Lakhs only
Even the Indian manufactures like MSD has reduced the price of there .45 weapons to almost 50% of the launch price, indicating there are HUGE margins in this industry.
But in the end customers like us will be paying the 12% hike
Mohit Ji, is your company participating in upcoming UP International Trade show?
