Hello Experts,

I have applied for the licence in .32 bore category and hopefully should get it.
Although I am based in chandigarh,I can reach out to any corner in punjab to get a good weapon.

So with a given budget of 1.5 - 1.7 what is the best recommendation for the weapon.

Also what is the recommendation on revolver vs pistol.

Looking forward to get some expert advice in this regard.

Thanks
Harneet

Good luck with your application. I'd suggest you purchase an IOF Pistol or Revolver as it will be next to impossible to get a good imported handgun for under 1.5

:) Thanks
IOF is the only option i have then I guess.

Otherwise what would be the approximate price range of the imported weapon in good condition.

Thanks again for all your help.
You people rock !!

All depends on the weapon and the seller. You should expect them to start at 3-4 lacs.

Thanks @inplainsight

And what would be the answer for Pistol vs Revolver ?
Moreover I went to a local armoury shop and he was trying to explain that transfer bar system used by IOF is unreliable.
So in generics is Transfer bar unreliable or transfer bar from IOF is unreliable?

Also any idea about the quality of the latest revolvers being sold by SGF, Kanpur

friend your licence will be either for a pistol or revolver depending on what you requested for.it won't .32 revolver licence.it is upto you to buy a non prohibited bore revolver.
iof would be the only choice for 1.5 lacs.

I reckon he could, but I've not read one decent review about the two...

Personally I'd go for the IOF Pistol. I've heard mixed reviews about the pistol, but I find their revolver too cumbersome to conceal.

Also, A transfer bar is supposed to make a firearm more reliable. Maybe the one used in the IOF revolver is considered unreliable?

Thanks everyone for your views.
I am keeping my fingers crossed for the licence.

Once I have that, I would prefer going for IOF revolver.

Just a small question regarding the licence (I am not sure If I can ask it here or should i switch to legal eagle section) ?

I have applied for licence in chandigarh while asking area validity of chandigarh and punjab full state, as I live in chandigarh and my parents are in our ancestral place ferozepur .
Is the DC authorized to issue the licence, or he can only issue (if he actually does) for chandigarh and then I will have to apply for area extension separately.

Thanks again all the members, you people deserve a standing ovation

All the things involved in owning arms in India have been made so suspicious and suspect able, I am glad I have you people to discuss my doubts.

Hi Harneet,

Better not hijack your own thread.

Please post a separate query in the relevant section after satisfying that your questions is not previously answered.
