Here I am to share my prized possession with you all. I am late since I started another thread on my ML babies. As per request of Prashant Singh and others, I am posting close-up photos of my favourite Muzzle Loading revolver,
History N°2, made by Feinwerkbau in Germany.

Yes, it is the same as my avatar.

The specifications:
Single action only, Matt finished bluing, Weight: 1.4 kg, Caliber: .44, Barrel length: 7&1/2"
The Load: 15 grains of Swiss 3Fg Black Powder, medium grain semolina filler & .457 cal self cast pure lead round balls.

This is a replica of the Rogers & Spencer revolver made during 1863 & 1865 for the American Civil war. Only a limited quantity of about 5800 pieces were made and before they were supplied to the Army, the civil war stopped. So, as per history, these revolvers were never used in the war. It was supposed to be the best built closed frame revolver of that time along with the 1858 Remington.

This particular revolver is made by Feinwerkbau with the best of materials and modern technology but the mechanical aspects are the same as that of the original. The construction is of superlative quality. The chamber alignment with the barrel, the notch are made to perfection. The click sound when you pull the hammer, the sound of the free rotation of the cylinder on the axle, are like Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma playing his santoor...Exquisite!! I just love it. ,
This is obviously made for sports and match purposes. The trigger is a dream one; the pull weight being between 600 to 800 grammes.
And when you shoot it, it is damn accurate. We shoot at 25m and 50m distances with it on C50 target.

I will post a detailed shooting session with it later on in the shooting sport section (it should be the right section, I guess).

Off course yes. The ML replica revolvers are mostly made in Europe specially in Italy by Uberti, a Beretta group company (http://www.uberti.com/ ), Euroarms and Pietta. Whatever is sold in the US or in the other parts of the world are Italian made. You can rather say that most of the replica muzzleloaders are made in Europe.
Pedersoli, Uberti, Pietta, Artax, Bondini, Palmetto in Italy
Ardesa, Dikar, Jukar, Arsa (hand made high quality pistols) in Spain
FWB, Hege, Tilo Dedinski (an independent gunsmith who makes exceptional and highly tagged pistols and rifles) and other artisan gunsmiths in Germany
Andreas Baumkircher (same as Dedinski) in Austria

The Spanish (Ardesa, Dikar & Jukar) and Italian made guns except for Artax (high quality, high price tag) are not of exceptional quality. You can be very lucky and you can equally be disappointed with the product. It is like a lottery draw. These days, Uberti has more consistent quality since 2/3 years or so. Davide Pedersoli is pretty expensive and supposed to be of better quality but again with a lot of question...
To sum up, the target shooters, do not consider Italian/Spanish made guns with high esteem. The quality of material and finish is poor (the parts wear out easily, lack of crisp adjustment and alignment etc.) compared to those made in the Germanic belt of Europe; Germany, Switzerland and Austria. This goes even for other weapons e.g. the Beretta pistols are considered to be down the line. There is obviously a huge difference in price; mass production vs limited production. You can buy four Uberti made ML revolvers or five Piettas for the price of one made in Germany. There is also a compromise between these two. Italian made revolvers with German made Lothar Walther or Hege barrels and Spanish made pistols with Swiss barrels and sometimes with the American Green Mountain barrels. But you will have to fine tune all of them either by yourself or get it done by a gunsmith. Normally,experienced BP shooters are quite experts to fix minor things and will help out gladly novices like me. In my case, I just address to them when I face a problem.

For target shooting, the closed frame revolvers are preferred for their solidity. The choices are limited. The Rogers & Spencer (R&S) or the 1858 Remington Army in .44 cal or Navy in .36 cal. That is why, I have only the closed frame ones, the Feinwerkbau R&S, another Italian made R&S with a Lothar Walther barrel and an Italian made 1858 Remington Navy with a German Hege Adlerlauf barrel.

Yes, Jayanta. My dream is to own the original Rogers & Spencer in shooting condition, the real history. There are only about 5800 pieces in the world. Got my hand on the originals but could not afford. Will have to wait for many years... They do not surface easily and once it appears you will have to pounce on it. For that, you will have to have the reserve always ready .

Is it difficult to get either black powder or percussion caps in France?

BP and caps are quite easily available in France. There is French BP known as Vector PNF and Swiss BP. I prefer the Swiss BP because it fowls much less than the French BP. The French BP is about 40 to 50 Euros a kilo while the Swiss costs between 63 to 69 Euros a kilo depending on the seller. The caps available mostly are of RWS Dynamit Nobel make. They are excellent in quality.

Your example of "santoor" click reminds me of a scene from The Good The Bad The Ugly. The "Bad" actually assembles a pistol from parts of a few he dissembles and one of the factors is the click of the chamber. tirpassion and brihji, you are tempting me to try my hand out at firearms.

Tirpassion you got an excellent ML here. I always thought Uberti made the best replicas.
