Hi Guys,

Just came across a video from Mr. Amit (I dont know him) over youtube @

I liked the chrome plating on the IOF revolver, forget the laser stuff, but wooden grip on chrome is looking good, smith & wesson type look.

Let me know your views, asthetically & technically.

I do not want to discourage you but personally I would avoid doing chrome plating or any reflective or shiny coating on any weapon. Reason: It would make it shine in dark and reveal your location.

Thanks for your thoughts. I would say forget about the guy in the video, I could agree no more with your views.
My point was presenting the plated rev. to you, looked good to me.

Regarding tactical part, where do we actually need to put tactical in use in our lives in India, rev here is mostly meant for self defence in close quarters, in that situation you are already in direct threat & reacting. So shiny gun is not negative.

Since we are not going to take it in a combat situation (with 0.32 & IOF).

Just my thoughts, may be disagreed.

The deal with chrome plating is that there is more than one kind. There is the shiny chrome plating that's put on for appearance, and there is hard chrome plating that is applied to the base metal as a better wear surface. The decorative stuff is no good for wear surfaces, as it is prone to flake or crack off.

If one wanted to plate the gun for appearance, then the working parts must not be plated. So whoever is doing the plating ought to know something about plating guns.

Whether one does decorative or hard chrome plating, recognize that it adds a thickness to the plated part. This is critical in any wear surface, such as the trigger-sear-hammer group, the hand that turns the cylinder and the bolt that locks it, and the cylinder axis and pin, not to mention the chambers and barrel.

Adding the thickness of even hard chrome plating WILL disturb the lockwork, make no mistake!

I would give this a second thought, if I were you. You could very well affect the reliability and function if you send the gun to be plated by someone who doesn't know how to plate the gun.
