Can I own a .17 cal revolver in India, is license required for it?

If it is air pistol and passes deal wood test, then no license required. If it is a firearm like .22 revolver, then license is required.

Once license is granted it is legal to have this revolver in India. Cartridge may be a problwm.

It is a firearm, and is it difficult to obtain a firearm .22 revolver license for target practise?
