Nothing new...
Its actually painted junk. Spent much time and energy in trying to understand its dynamics.... The cylinder expands after a couple of KF bullets are fired and jams the mechanism. However, after about 20 secs or so, when the metal cools down, it starts working again...
Apparently it works fairly well with imported ammo - S&B, Magtech !
Try these and then report... if it still jams, well then...

By how much does it expand and how did you measure the 'expansion'?????

Olly,
I do not think it to be the reason, twice i have fired 6 critridges (KF) each with my revolver without any jams. Post firing i didn't find the cylinder to be too hot or anything of that sort. Can it be due to lead shavings? Excessive fouling?
Regards,

actually its all because of the drunken monkeys behind the machines at OFB...

It could be three possible reasons for cylinder expansion and heating:
1. the metal of cylinder is of poor quality, thus unable withstand the normal stress of the exploding powder in the cartridge.
2. the IOF cartridges are loaded more than the correct powder load, causing abnormal stress than what the chamber is supposed to withstand.
3. there is minor misalignment between the chamber and bore of the barrel. When the bullet travels from chamber into the barrel, there is undesirable amount of friction causing higher chamber pressure and heat.
The reason number two mentioned above seems to be the most likely cause in case of Olly, since the revolver does not face the same problem when firing imported cartridges.

I don't think couple of rounds makes the cylinder hot enough to expand.
Imported ammo works well because they cause less fouling as the lead bullet is covered with some sort of plastic covering and good quality powder is used that cause comparatively less fouling. But then imported ammo are priced above Rs. 250/- a pop and we can not afford to fire them regularly
Could be because of excessive fouling. Indiarahu, how many rounds have you fired through the revolver since you last cleaned it. I would advise you to give it a good cleaning specially the area between barrel and cylinder i.e the axis on which the cylinder rotates.

Not trying to hijack the thread but in case you can figure out yourself that cylinder expanded , then stop shooting now .
By the time everyday person found out , it's too late . I don't know which side you call " cylinder expand " , and how many cylinders on your gun expand and what's their configuration to the barrel .
I.E. there are more than one "cylinders" so how many can you figure out . Mark the numbers on each cylinder and see how many have expanded . End of the day it's not safe to shoot any more .
Or due to hot loads the barrel side "chamber" is expanded too . I be looking for cracks and taking it to really good gunsmith and/or looking for my money back - Haji

The points to be noted are that in case of indiarahu, "trigger jams after every two or three shots". Does is it happen only with cartridges from a particular manufacturer?
In case of Olly, the problem happens only when he uses IOF cartridges and not when using imported cartridges. In this case the likely culprit clearly seems to be the IOF cartridges.

I too suspect the KF ctgs and their inconsistent loads.
I also suspect the KF ctg brass to be of inferior quality and unable to consistently retain the blast pressure. Sometimes when the load is 'bearable' by the brass, they keep firing... otherwise the brass expands so much to transfer the expansion to the cylinder/s which causes jamming. However, the cylinder/s free up in a few seconds.
What is intriguing is that this DOES NOT HAPPEN in imported ctgs, particularly the 2 brands I've mentioned.
Hence, my revolver is loaded with the 'shiny' ones...
{ The shiny brass concept has ruffled a few feathers here...earlier ! }
I use KF only for plinking and never trust them to save my a*se...
My theory is also based on the following 'phenomenon' :

Pretty sure it is the ammo. Someone had done a post about how cartridges are manufactured by KF, it is like a cottage industry, so powder charges not being uniform is regular practice.

The revolver must be defective.Never had any problem with KF ammo in any IOF revolver I have fired and I have fired a few.

Very true, wish we could get the money back or a new revolver in its place. Our chances of finding the Yeti are better though.

Case failure is at the worst place . Bad bad brass quality if it happens for the first time shooting . Brass failure happen if you reload same brass for 8 to 12 times for normal loads and 6 to 10 times for hot loads if you are reloading your own ammo . First time shooting and brass failure at that level is considerably dangerous . Save your firearm and get rid of shiety ammo - Haji
