The barrel/cylinder gap plays an important role in the performance of a revolver.The b/c gap accepted worldwide is anything between .003" to .012". If this gap is too wide then the revolver begins to spit i.e.throw out lead shavings from the gap and also a lot of gas escapes resulting in lose of velocity.
I searched on the net for what was the right tool needed to measure the b/c gap and found out that a feeler gauge was needed for the job. I thought it won't be available in my town but surprisingly I found one. But due to elections in Punjab my revolver is deposited in a gun house and therefore will have to wait a little before I can measure it.
Has anyone tried to measure the b/c gap in IOF? If yes, what was the measurement? I won't be surprised if the gap is more than .012" because I have seen and heard of IOF spitting. Also IOF is notorious when it comes to quality.

Improper timing also causes a revolver to spit lead. If the bore of the cylinder is not perfectly lined up with the barrel, lead will be shaved off the bullet when the gun is fired. It is imperative, in a revolver, for the cylinder to be locked and perfectly lined up with the barrel before the hammer drops.

In case your revolver suffers from excessive cylinder internal rattle you can remedy it by adding appropriately sized bushing rings to move the cylinder slightly forward.
