Revolver Rates
Gentlemen,
Could you please guide me a seller who wants to sell IOF .32 Revolver Mk-III. How
much is the cost of this revolver, I know from the Kanpur outlet it is approx. Rs 70,000.
Could you also please provide me the rates of other Foreign brand revolvers. I am
interested in new hand gun. I know the imports of foreign make weapons was banned in
somewhere 1984 and that is the reason in India we find these vintage revolvers like Webley.
This is the reason I want to go for IOF revolver.
I am from Himachal and have participated in National level 9mm Pistol Competition.
Thank you & Regards

Re: Revolver Rates
You can check out with the gun dealers.Phone no's of the dealers are provided in the yellow pages section. You can call dealers near you to see if its available with anyone or not.Subba wrote:Could you please guide me a seller who wants to sell IOF .32 Revolver Mk-III.
With dealers it would be available for around 1.25 Lac.Subba wrote:How much is the cost of this revolver.
At Kanpur factory the price is around Rs. 84,000.Subba wrote:I know from the Kanpur outlet it is approx. Rs 70,000.
To give you an idea Webley revolvers are priced around 3 Lacs and Smith & Wesson around 5 L.Subba wrote:Could you also please provide me the rates of other Foreign brand revolvers.
I would advice you to buy a new revolver from Kanpur factory rather than old one from a dealer. Waiting time at Kanpur is around two months. You will be able to save around 40k rupees and also get a new piece.

Re: Revolver Rates
Thank you Vineet for a speedy reply.
I have few friends who are ex-SF and NSG...these guys are telling me that waiting
period thru any ordanance outlet is 1 year (They may be wrong, I will check with
other sources).
Though you are right if I buy directly, I will save. However do you think a 5 year old
revolver from dealer will not be as good as brand new ( I will check inside the barrel
myself).
Please advise

only barrel inspection will not help you guess about condition of a weapon....Subba wrote: However do you think a 5 year old

there are other things to be checked before you buy any 5 year old weapon (specially IOF made)
like , firing pin, hammer, hammer spring tension, ejection function, over all fit, smooth functionality , cylinder alignment with barrel....etc
above things you should check ,even if your going to get a brand new IOF revolver
hope this helps

Re: Revolver Rates
hey Subba,
if you don't have a budget issue, then i would suggest you go for an imported revolver.
I myself have a webley & scott mark 4 B-series and S&W on my dad's licence.
in my opinion i would rather go for a 30+ years old import(in 90%+condition)
and always well maintained, than a 30 months or a 30 day year old IOF product.
lots of issues with IOF revolvers, have fired both small arms and feild gun factory,
revolvers, first of all they just look UGLY, second they both have firing pin attached
to the base not the hammer, in my opinion that's just old school and unreliable.

Re: Revolver Rates
Thank you Pritam and Sam,
I am surprised to know that IOF weapon has so much bad reputation
. And also
before I go and buy I will try and learn to do a inspection on revolvers
.
If Webley is around 3 Lac, I believe I can go for it.
If possible can someone give be brands along with the rates of these imported
revolvers.
Thank you for all your help.

I am afraid you won't get a proper answer to your question because different brands of revolvers having different calibers are available with dealers from time to time. All have their own ways of doing business. The best way is to visit them personally and see what they have to offer you.Subba wrote:If possible can someone give be brands along with the rates of these imported

Re: Revolver Rates
Mr. Vineet, by all means the IOF revolver from FGF Kanpur is best in today' s situation ,So go for it .Many gun knowledgeable persons have been taken for rides using great names like Webley and S&W . At least you are sure you are buying a brand new and genuine product.

Re: Revolver Rates
Friends,
I spoke to a dealer. He says that the IOF revolvers can be refurbished. After
the refurbishment the quality excells.
He is going to send me pics of the same. He has other handguns which he will
give me a price along with the pics of weapons.
I asked him about pump action shotgun, he does not has it. Can any body tell
me a good quality pump action shotgun. I have heard IOF pump action is not
good quality. "Please Advise"
Cheers..!!

hey vineet,
there's nothing wrong with the idea of having the firing pin attached to the base, but it's just old school,
and it's unreliable in case of IOF products, heard in a few and seen in one of cases to be broken.
in my opinion if a firing pin is attached to the hammer you can probably notice the pin every time you
fire single action. in case of damage its easy notice a pin attached to the hammer.

Re: Revolver Rates
sammesanj: Earlier IOF revolvers used to come with firing pin attached to the hammer. In latest model i.e mark III,internal firing pins were installed to eliminate misfiring. I have fired more than 300 rounds in past three years from mine mark III revolver without a single misfire. So in my opinion internal firing pin is reliable though overall the revolver's quality needs to be improved to the international standards.

Re: Revolver Rates
Hi Vineet,
I am really confused that should I go for Webley, expensive S&W or our Indigenous
IOF Revolver.
I will buy this weapon for personal safety and not for any other purpose. If you say
that you have fired over 300 rounds, that means it will carry out its task on difficult
times.
Please share your experience on IOF Revolver.
Thank you much
