One thing that I try do to when handloading pistol ammunition is to pick a powder so that my selected charge will fill more than half of the cartridge case. This will cause a double charge to overflow the case, providing a visual warning of the problem.
I also close the door of my reloading room and do not have a TV or Radio or anything to distract me while I am loading. Unfortunately Murphy can strike anyone at any time.
The shooter is lucky that neither he nor anyone else got injured. You can't ask for better luck than that. One reason why I always wear shooting glasses when at the range.
At least, he was able to salvage the Kimber. I would have cost three to four times the price of the Glock to replace. Glocks are cheap and available everywhere.

Yes some cheap country made guns can be unsafe and unreliable. But countrymade guns made by gunsmiths of "repute" are said to be usually made from "quality" steel that can withstand the pressure of .315 cartridge, for example steel of old rail tracks.

i reload my own ammo for last 12years with dillon xl 650 press i have low or double powder charge Warning mount beside the dies if i have low powder or double charge then alarm goes off then i know something not right , it cost me some extra money but it is safe and worth it.

Just illustrates that conventional design is sturdier than the unconventional new age stuff.At least the Glock did not blow the slide back into the users head

I only reload for my rifles,
use ONLY ONE OPEN CAN FOR THAT SESSION- Varget Powder most times, powder thrower, checked every 10 throws on a RCBS 5-0-5, a Lee single stage for decapping and a Lymag Turret for the resizing and seating
, very zen like, no music, no fan , kids sleeping-so its usually late night-Usually in my den, , dont have the Luxury of a big garage in this new place...
