Ruger has announced its newest pistol; the SR 1911 in .45 ACP, with a stainless slide and an investment cast frame.

It has a MSRP of $799

This new Ruger SR1911 is one hundred percent American made, down to the last pin and screw, but it is priced lower than many of the import 1911 pistols.

I know guys but that's no reason to not know what is going on in the gun world. With NAGRI taking off and gaining support, surely someday things will open up.
You can't give up that hope.

The 1911 has a very attractive profile, it is just truly "classic". I got me one last week, it is a Springfield Loaded Black Stainless Target. Have not shot it yet. But it sure looks Pretty.

Rover, they're trying here in the U.S. too. Inch by inch, foot by foot. Fight for every inch back.

Another review on SIGForum:
http://sigforum.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/ ... 047842/p/1
Photos are on page 1 and the range report (with photos) are on page 4.
One poster on there said that his dealer quoted him $625 (out the door) for this gun

The price of the Ruger SR 1911 makes it appealing to me. There's absolutely no excuse for a 1911 copy to be less than rock-solid reliable: after all, if the first ones tested by the Army was, there's no excuse for something 100 years later to be any less reliable. I am not personally keen on these "beavertail" grip safeties, as I don't care to hold an ironing board in my hand. However, I suppose that even one of the very few handguns to fit a large hand well has to be "improved" to meet popular tastes. To me, those things remind me of the tail fins on a 1959 Cadillac.
Perhaps someone will offer the equivalent of the tail lights for a beavertail next...
Anyway, seriously, This looks quite nice and I'm glad to see investment casting being used as a cost-reduction that is passed on to the buyer.
