Indians For Guns

I remember myself oogling at the .44 US navy colt and the winchester rifle at the Victoria Museum, Bombay during a school trip 1977 maybe 79.. I was maybe in class 5 or was it 6 during that time and having digested a number of Louis L'amour books, I remember myself daydreaming infront of that glass facade... If suddenly there was an earthqake at that moment of time, with the roof caving in and people running helter skelter.. i Would grab those two weapons and run the hell out of there...

Seeing those guns in Mumbai and at the Deccan College museum Pune much later, I often wonder (In vacant and pensive mood) where have they all gone? Are those museum pieces the only memories that I am ever going to cherish??

That saddle ring carbine doesn't look like a museum piece . Is it in .32-40 cal ?

Jonah: I've trawled through the Deccan College collection with a fine tooth comb and never saw these beauties. Can you tell me more about when and where exactly you saw them so that we can track them down. I still know people there. Would be great if we can find them.

Doc: Couldn't be. That's a Model 1873, took short cartridges; .44-40, .38-40, .32-20. The .32-40 came in the Model 1894.

Johan the pistol is a cap and ball one. The .44 was the Army Colt. Navy colts are .36 cal. I have an Uberti version of the pistol pictured.

Its the one on the right.

Boy oh boy... Hoo Hah! One of these days... I have a collection of more than 500 photos of the US navy colt. Yup, even photographs of individual parts.. All I need is a blueprint to complete my collection! Cap and ball will do for me! BTW I wouldnt mind the Cz-75B? either

'ang on ashok, that was many many years ago.. All I remember was we were given a tour there by a friend whose father worked there.. The photos posted above are definitely not the ones I am talking about. We only had access to Click-III in those days.

@ jonahpach / MoA: Thanks for the great images and revived memories. Those weapons were soooo long and needed strength to carry around and shoot!
