dear friends and fellow IFGans,
today's lucknow issue of DAINIK JAGRAN,stated that MARK IV,will be made available from the month of april,as iof has got the approval from the home ministry in the month of dec.2010,for its production and sale.
it also says that seeing the excitement among the customers both SAF and FGF have decided production on a larger scale.
about the specification, the article states that (according to the SAF sources),it is going to to have a longer barrel, which will give longer range,as compared to mark i,ii,and iii.
with improved butt for comfortable grip. :D
Tomorrow i will be attaching the scanned copy of the article.
regards,
happy and safe shooting....
Mariner.

Longer barrel??!!! is that the only improvement the MK IV will have to offer over the existing model since there are a lot of after market grips available for the revolver! A longer barrel will only make an already bulky revolver even more difficult to carry. Quite an improvement :deadhorse:

Gentlemen,

You seem to have ignored the price. The longer barrel- bigger "butt" Mark IV will cost 1.05L now !

Increased barrel length and reshaped butt cannot be termed as improvements, they are mere cosmetic changes . The present length of the mk3 revolver is sufficient . The ordinance guys have really excelled in ways of getting more money from the customers rather than to improve the product itself

better would to make revolver with shorter not rifled barrel and cartridge loaded and tungsten slags, I think .32 long cartridge could accommodate about 10 slags. that will be much better self defense weapon. they are obviously moving in opposite direction

i think mr grewal is right , the extra legnth not gonna increase the effective performace of thegun .

In comparison to colt cobra and other successful longer barrel models the break open model mark 3 is always a hard task to conceal and draw immediately .

if iof wanted really to improve it should have given second thought to a short height model and not increasing the barrel length of a already high ( mark 3 ) revolver , the height and now a longer lenght will definately make it a fancy weapon to show off but as far as ergonomics and streamlining of the profile of a revolver is concerned , a pistol has no mach in conceal and carry commitment and ease.

let us see how it goes , but this will be surely a variety to indian customer like in times of only fiat and ambassador , maruti brought out a fresh breeze and later on the whole automobile scenario was changed....
