I am on the verge of getting a new NPB licence. Would like to know the lowest price for a pistol/revolver in any bore to retain the licence. As cash is low so have not decided not to go for imported right now and iof waiting period is very long compared to the purchase permit which will be valid for only 3 months. Your views will be appriciated

new iof pistol waiting time is more than 3 months and you should invest 75k Btw you cannot sell for 5 yrs after purchase .second hand iof pistol can be purchased for 90k-120k . Better for retaining the gun you can get new .22 revolver ofr 45k directly in armoury itself .

You can book the IOF Revolver or Pistol and then go to your LA and tell them that you have book the weapon. Tell them that the waiting period is longer than the purchase period. Apply for extension of purchase period with the LA in writing and attaching the weapon booking confirmation document. The LA will extend your purchase period.

just get any junk piece, do it up and when ready sell it and buy the new one.

I agree with ruger_rugged. Purchase Period (PP) can be extended according to your requirement. I have known of instances wherein PP has been granted three times consecutively. Alternatively, you could 'cover' the license. That is, if your moolah tank is really running low, just pick up anything and have it endorsed on the license. Then when you are in a better position, sell the current weapon and buy yourself something you like.

The question is how "cheap" will be the so called junk piece ?

My advice to you would be to go for a IOF .22lr revolver. New will cost you around Rs.46,409 (ex-Ishapore) including taxes , the dealer will give it to you for a little more. ( Ref. IOF website). If you can find a used one in good condition and cheaper thats even better.

Learn to shoot safely and effectively, practice a lot , who knows you might not even want to re-sell it in a hurry ! You can re-sell it when you want for a little less , no major drain to your pocket there.

Good said Doc, that was what I initially planned, But all the dealers I spoke want nothing less for a used .22 iof
