Banning 7.62x25 pistol and ammunition, for what reason?

The standard load for 7.62 x 25 can defeat some soft body armor, and some of this ammunition is loaded for submachine gun use, which can also be fired out of pistols, is even hotter -- giving more penetrative power. There has even been rumblings from some USA local police forces, wanting to suppress the sale of 7.62 x 25 handguns (chiefly, the large numbers of surplus CZ 52 Czech pistols that were available a few years back -- I got mine already, thank you!) and ammunition.

I suspect that this is behind any action taken by the government to ban the cartridge.

Have you considered the .40 caliber? From my limited understanding of Indian laws, it is not a prohibited bore cartridge, has ample stopping power, and is produced in much greater quantities than the .357 Sig. Granted, the .40 is largely an American caliber, but it is immensely popular here, and is the round-of-choice for most police forces....even displacing the very popular 9mm and .45. Thus, the actual cost to produce the ammunition is quite low. Here in the US, only .22 and 9mm ammo is cheaper.
I'm not familiar with the availability of arms or ammo in India, but if you can obtain .40 cal, it's certainly worth a look, since it definitely fits the qualifiers you listed.

Yes Glock is very easy to field strip, you just need to make sure the gun is unloaded first; that sounds like a stupid comment, until you realize how many idiots don't practice safe gun handling. Troy

I agree with you, I have heard of just the idiot...not so long ago a 2nd lieutenant in M Rifles, went around playing Russian roulette with a llama .38 S&W revolver (his service side arm). Apparently he enjoyed watching his subordinates run around in abject horror. It seems basic counting was not his forte when he finally blew his brains out. The bullet went through the right temple and exited through the other side...Another Darwin Award candidate...Can't be too careful with guns. Thanks anyway Troy.
