thebrowningeffect: I think that a PPK in 380, or a CZ83, or a Baretta "Cheetah" series would work well for your intended use.

No it is not possible to buy any bore other than .32 if your license says .32 bore pistol/revolver. If your license is saying .32 then please get it changed to NPB Pistol/revolver first. Then you will be able to buy any NPB Pistol or revolver. At the time of application, it is always better to write in license application as NPB pistol/revolver. For rifle/shotgun license application, NPB Rifle/Shotgun.

I know it is almost religion when it comes to discussing different calibers, but in Indian scenario you can keep discussing for a long time and finally you will buy what you can get. simple thing to do is to buy IOF .32 revolver and your license will be filled, then you can keep looking for some nice gun.

my humble advise do not look at caliber it self as main criteria, bigger is not always better, sometimes attacker got shot with .32 5 times or with .38 5 times and still he will be shooting back. for that matter how much .32 and .38 better then .22lr. - definitely better .32 and .38 can be reloaded and .22lr not.

seems like you think that your security will improve a lot if you you will buy expensive gun, definitely yes, plus BIG feel good factor. But security is a relative term and if you will compare a gun to 2 guards with rifles, then I will ALWAYS opt for guards plus armored car.

If you're not an arms enthusiast,I would recomend that you get yourself a revolver(a pistol needs far more maintanence than a revolver,and one should know jam,reloding drills).just my 2 cents

1.How much a .380 acp should cost and how about the availability ammo in India?
2.Are the ammo very expensive?
3. In what cases a Government allows to import a foreign made arms. I am not a sportsman neither I live abroad. Will I qualify for this?
4.Suppose I have UP gun license and want to buy a gun from Delhi is it possible or I have to purchase it from UP only?
